MinMaxMedical to mass produce its surgical navigation solution
MinMaxMedical, which develops surgical robots and navigation systems, is taking a new step forward by launching large-scale production of its equipment. The firm has opened a factory in Apprieu (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region) that will enable mass production of its innovative solutions.
Technology protected by 46 patents
After more than 15 years of research and development, MinMaxMedical has developed an advanced robotic solution to assist surgeons in their surgical procedures. Protected by 46 patents, this technology stands out for its precision and efficiency. The 2,100 sq. m. production site includes two production lines, a clean room for the manufacture of sterile sensors, offices and a storage area.
A strategic investment for the future
The plant, financed to the tune of €15 million, including €430,000 in support from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, is a strategic investment for MinMaxMedical. Starting in 2027, the firm plans to produce several hundred robots and more than 20,000 sterile sensors per year.
Innovation supporting patients
MinMaxMedical’s solution, often described as the “GPS of the operating room”, enables surgeons to prepare and perform their procedures with unparalleled precision. Thanks to a digital twin and an advanced navigation system, instruments are positioned in real time and in 3D, thereby improving the safety and efficiency of operations.
An innovative business model
MinMaxMedical also stands out for its unique business model, based on the creation of startups specializing in specific applications of its technology. By collaborating with investors and physicians, the firm has already seen some twenty startups take off, half of which have been sold to international key players.
In 2024, MinMaxMedical nearly doubled its revenues, reaching €3 million, with this figure forecast to be €12 million for this year. The business anticipates strong growth starting in 2028 and is already planning to build a second production site. To support this expansion, MinMaxMedical plans to recruit around fifteen people in 2025 and around thirty more by 2027.
“Our technology is revolutionizing orthopedic surgery by providing increased precision and safety. By bringing together talent and through constant innovation, we’re placing France at the forefront of global medical biotechnology,” said Thomas Lonjaret, Chief Economic Officer at MinMaxMedical.
MinMaxMedical embodies French innovation and cutting-edge research, with a direct impact on patient healthcare around the world.
