In September 2025, the French Healthcare Association led an economic mission to Uzbekistan, illustrating how French healthcare companies are providing concrete support for the modernisation of healthcare systems around the world. Ten major players – from hospitals to medtech companies – presented their innovative solutions to the Uzbek authorities and forged key partnerships.

Following an initial Health Forum held in Paris in March 2025, cooperation between France and Uzbekistan has reached a new milestone. On 10 and 11 September, ten French companies and institutions travelled to Tashkent to meet with public decision-makers and hospital stakeholders. This mission confirms the central role of French Healthcare Association as a catalyst for exchanges and cooperation in the health sector between the two countries.

With a population of 37.5 million, Uzbekistan is undergoing a massive modernisation of its healthcare system, notably by:

  • Oncology and radiotherapy
  • Emergency Care
  • Training of healthcare personnel

High-level meetings with French organisations, focused on healthcare impact

Led by George-Fabrice Blum, Export Health Coordinator for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Emile Jockey, General Delegate of the French Healthcare Association, the delegation met with:

  • Uzbek Minister of Health Asilbek Khudayarov and his technical team, including Deputy Minister of Health Farkhod Tashpulatov, during a two-hour meeting
  • Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and his representatives
  • The heads of major hospitals and oncology centres, such as the Republican Scientific Centre for Emergency Medical Care and the Republican Specialised Research Medical Centre for Oncology and Radiology, with discussions focusing on training and prevention
  • Local decision-makers involved in the construction and management of hospital infrastructure
  • International organisations and donors likely to support health projects, including in-depth discussions with the Asian Development Bank

Visits to flagship facilities (Republican Scientific Centre for Emergency Medical Care, Republican Specialised Research Medical Centre for Oncology and Radiology) and discussions with private stakeholders (International Clinic, AKFA MEDLINE) identified opportunities for concrete cooperation. The mission culminated in the signing of health agreements and announcements of joint projects, notably between Gustave Roussy Hospital and the Uzbek Ministry for a project launched during President Mirziyoïev’s state visit.
